Vicky Arvelo

Naturalist

From a very young age Vicky had an extreme passion for any and all things involving nature. As with many kids, she grew up watching documentaries on Animal Planet and the Discovery Channel, and spent countless afternoons chasing creatures of every sort in her backyard. However, she had no ordinary backyard. Vicky’s backyard was a mountainside in a rural, forested area of South America in Venezuela. After high school graduation, Vicky enrolled in the Marine Biology program at the University of West Florida in Pensacola and recently graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Marine Biology receiving top honors with a 4.0 GPA earning her a spot on the President’s List For Academic Excellence.

Her next next educational venture now includes pursuing a Master’s in Environmental Management at UWF, with the future goal of having a significant impact on policy and environmental law and sustainability and conservation. During her undergrad Vicky spent an ample amount of time on research and data collecting projects. One of which involved collecting data as part of a dolphin survey team in order to determine why the population of bottle nose dolphins around Pensacola were suffering from skin lesions.

She joined the Animal Tales team in 2016 and has worked for both our midsouth and southeast regions. Fluent in English, Spanish and Italian, Vicky skills, knowledge and passion are a great asset to the Animal Tales team.
